Traditional Judeo-Christian View of SSA 'Doesn't Fit into Our Worldview,' APA Spokesman Says
July 11, 2007 - The American Psychological Association's Director of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Concerns, Clinton Anderson, told Time magazine in an interview published yesterday that he rejected religious traditionalists' views about unwanted homosexuality. "We cannot take into account what are fundamentally negative religious perceptions of homosexuality -- they don't fit into our world view," Anderson said.
Yet according to the Time interview, Anderson insisted that the new APA Task Force convened to study the ethics of offering reorientation therapy "would base its findings on research, not ideology."
NARTH President Joseph Nicolosi noted that all but one of the APA Task Force members are gay activists.
"The APA committee," Nicolosi said, "was chosen precisely according to their ideology. All but one are anti-traditionalists who have demonstrated that they do not respect worldview diversity, and will not tolerate open debate on the subject of homosexuality."
